Enrichment

At St Edmund’s, we believe education is about so much more than academic achievement, it’s about nurturing the whole child and preparing them for life. That’s why enrichment is at the heart of what we do.

Through a wide variety of opportunities, we aim to:

  • Discover and nurture talents: helping every child explore and develop their unique gifts.
  • Build character: fostering resilience, confidence and independence.
  • Promote wellbeing: encouraging children to look after their physical and mental health.
  • Prepare for the future: equipping pupils with the skills and mindset for success in the next stage of their education and beyond.
  • Shape responsible citizens: teaching respect, responsibility and the importance of contributing positively to the world around them.

While many of these skills are developed through the National Curriculum, much of the magic happens in the enrichment experiences we offer, those extra opportunities that inspire children, broaden their horizons, and give them memories to treasure.

What Enrichment Looks Like at St Edmund’s
Our enrichment programme offers something for every child, whether they love sport, the arts, leadership, or community service. Examples include:

  • Clubs & Activities:  a wide variety of before-and after-school clubs, from art, choir and drama to coding, football, netball, gymnastics and more.
  • Music & Performance: opportunities to learn instruments, join the school choir, perform in assemblies and concerts, and take part in drama productions.
  • Sporting Success: specialist PE teaching, a strong programme of competitive sports, and our Platinum School Games Award for excellence in physical education.
  • Trips & Visits: class trips, residentials and workshops that bring learning to life and broaden children’s experiences.
  • Leadership Opportunities: pupils take responsibility as School Council members, Eco Team, Mini Vinnies, Prefects and Anti-Bullying Ambassadors.
  • Community & Faith in Action: regular charity work, parish links, and social action projects that help children understand the impact they can make.

These opportunities go hand-in-hand with the curriculum, ensuring children don’t just achieve academically, they also grow in confidence, character and creativity.
