Headteacher's Welcome   

On behalf of the children, staff, parents and governors at St Edmund’s Catholic Nursery and Primary School, I am delighted to welcome you to our community.  We encourage children at our school to flourish and grow academically, personally and spiritually – we aim to develop and encourage the growth of the whole child. 

From the ages of 3 through to 11, we provide a caring, vibrant and faith-filled environment where every child is known, valued and encouraged to shine. The moment you step through our doors, you will notice the joyful buzz of learning, the colourful displays of creativity, and the warm smiles that reflect our school’s family spirit. Our nursery offers a gentle and inspiring introduction to school life. With experienced, caring staff, children quickly grow in confidence, independence and curiosity. Parents often tell us how well their children settle and how much they look forward to each new day.

For more than 85 years, St Edmund’s has delivered a rich and ambitious primary curriculum designed to spark imagination and build strong foundations for the future. Alongside English and Maths, children enjoy Sport, Art, Music, Drama, French and much more — discovering their talents and developing a lifelong love of learning. Our spacious grounds and exciting learning environment give children the freedom to explore, play and achieve their very best.

High Standards, Happy Children
Our dedicated staff set high expectations while creating a safe environment and a supportive atmosphere. Ofsted 2022 describes St Edmund’s as “a happy community where pupils enjoy their learning, feel safe and rise to the challenges their teachers provide”.

In December 2024, the Catholic Schools Inspectorate awarded the school Outstanding status, praising the exceptional care and respect that underpin our children’s exemplary behaviour and attitudes.

Growing in Character and Confidence
Beyond the classroom, pupils develop leadership and responsibility through our School Council, Eco Team, Mini Vinnies, Prefects, Buddies and Anti-Bullying Ambassadors. These opportunities build resilience, kindness and confidence, qualities that prepare them for life.

Enrichment and Achievement
St Edmund’s pupils consistently achieve academic results above the national average. But their school journey is about much more: after-school clubs, sports competitions, trips, performances and outdoor learning all help broaden horizons and create lasting memories. We are proud holders of the Platinum School Games Award, reflecting our passion for sport and healthy lifestyles as well as the Music Mark in recognition of our high-quality music provision.
