Sean McAlindenCo-Chair of Governors
Sean McAlinden
Sean became a Foundation Governor in 2019 and became Co Chair of the Governing Body in 2022. He has two children currently at the school. Sean is an Assistant Head teacher at a local secondary school, bringing experience of data tracking and analysis to the Curriculum & Achievement Committee and knowledge of a working educational establishment to the Resources Committee.

Mark BrownCo-Chair of Governors
Mark Brown
Mark has been a governor at St Edmund's for three and a half years and now serves as Co-Chair. He is also the Safeguarding Link Governor, Chair of the Curriculum and Achievement Committee, and a member of the Catholic Life and Community and Performance Management panels.He has over 25 years' experience in secondary education, Mark now works for a large Multi-Academy Trust in the Central Inclusion Team, supporting families and helping students who struggle to access mainstream education.Mark's connection to St Edmund's is especially meaningful, his wife was a pupil here, and their two boys now attend the school. He was drawn to become a governor by the warm, caring atmosphere that you feel the moment you walk through the gates.For Mark, what makes St Edmund's truly special is the culture of love and compassion, lived out by the staff in their dedication to every child. His vision is that every child and member of the school community fulfils their God-given potential, and continues to support one another both inside and beyond the classroom. -
Aimee MonteithVice-Chair & Foundation Governor
Aimee Monteith
Aimee first joined the Governing Body in 2023 as a Parent Governor before becoming a Foundation Governor. In September 2025 she was elected Vice Chair. She plays an active role across many committees, including Curriculum and Achievement, Admissions and Appeals, and Performance Management. She is also Chair of Catholic Life and Community and serves as the RE Link Governor.
Aimee's connection to St Edmund's is deeply personal; as both a past pupil and a parent, she has seen first-hand the difference the school makes in children's lives. Alongside this, she brings a wealth of professional experience from both the education and business sectors. Having worked in a local secondary school and now runs her own brand and marketing consultancy supporting schools with strategy, training and research.
For Aimee, what makes St Edmund's so special is the way every child is known as an individual, with their passions and interests nurtured. She loves how the whole community – staff, children and families – come together to celebrate and support one another. She also values the rich opportunities pupils enjoy, from creative projects to inspiring trips, alongside excellent academic outcomes.
Her vision is for St Edmund's to be widely recognised for its outstanding achievements and for every child to leave with a brilliant start to their educational journey, as well as friendships and memories that will last a lifetime.

Susan SparkesFoundation Governor
Susan Sparkes
Susan has been a Foundation Governor at St Edmund's for six years and is involved in a wide range of committees, including Catholic Life and Community, Admissions and Appeals, Pay and Personnel, Marketing, and the Performance Panel. She also chairs the Strategy Panel.Susan's connection to the school goes back many years; both of her adult children attended St Edmund's and were very happy there. She has also served the parish as a catechist, so when an appeal was made for governors, she felt called to step forward.Professionally, Susan runs her own consultancy supporting venues and events nationwide. With many years of board-level experience, she brings valuable expertise in finance, recruitment, marketing and leadership to her governor role.For Susan, St Edmund's is first and foremost a supportive and caring family. She values the school's strong Catholic ethos, its close ties between parish, families and staff, and the way it nurtures children across generations.Her vision is for St Edmund's to continue living out its mission – “Together we learn and grow through worship and celebration”, while providing an excellent education and remaining a loving community at the heart of Whitton. -
Carmel MorelandHeadteacher
Carmel Moreland
Mrs Moreland has been Headteacher at St Edmund's since 2005 and is proud to have been part of the school community for over 15 years. Before joining St Edmund's, she taught for many years in Hammersmith and Fulham, leading in RE, Assessment, IT and Maths. She has also worked with the Graduate Training Programme and as a Visiting Lecturer at St Mary's University, helping to inspire and support the next generation of teachers.
She feels it is a real privilege to lead such a special school where children, families and staff work so closely together. For her, what makes St Edmund's unique is its warm community spirit and the joy of learning shared by everyone.
Her vision is clear: that St Edmund's continues to provide outstanding education in a secure, sustainable environment. She hopes every child will leave knowing they can read, write and count confidently, but also with fond memories of their time here — memories of enjoyment, of key learning moments, and of the friendships that helped them take their next steps. And for those who stay living locally, her greatest wish is that one day they choose St Edmund's for their own children too.

Fearghal NashStaff Governor
Fearghal Nash
Mr Nash has been part of St Edmund's for over 16 years, first as a teacher and more recently as Deputy Headteacher. He has also served as a Staff Governor for 7 years, contributing to the Catholic Life and Community, Curriculum and Achievement, and Resources committees.With a Master's degree in Catholic School Leadership and experience as an inspector with the Catholic School Inspectorate, Fearghal brings deep knowledge of both classroom practice and school leadership to his role.He chose to become a governor to support the school community in a different capacity, helping to shape its long-term strategy and vision. For him, St Edmund's is special because of its strong Catholic identity, caring community, long-serving staff, and the generations of families who continue to choose the school. He also values the opportunities children have to explore creativity, sport, and outdoor learning.Mr Nash's vision matches the wider vision of St Edmund's: that every child develops their God-given gifts to become confident communicators, active contributors to their community, independent and curious learners, and healthy, well-rounded individuals ready to take on life's challenges. -
Carl PandoleFoundation Governor
Carl Pandole
Carl has been a Foundation Governor at St Edmund's since 2021. He serves on the Resources and Curriculum & Achievement Committees, and chairs the Admissions and Appeals Committee. He is also the school's SEND Link Governor.Carl works as a lawyer in the entertainment industry and also serves as a trustee of a charity, giving him valuable experience in governance and oversight.He chose to become a governor to bring a different perspective to the board and to contribute his legal expertise. He was keen to better understand and support the school's long-term aims and plans, particularly in offering skills from outside the education sector.For Carl, what makes St Edmund's special is its strong community spirit and the way the staff, led by Carmel, make every child feel valued and cared for.His vision is simple: to give every child at St Edmund's the best possible start in life and the tools to thrive as they grow, not only academically, but in all aspects of their development. -
Janine LangmeadParent Governor
Janine Langmead
Janine joined the Governing Body in 2021 as a Parent Governor and became a Foundation Governor in 2025. With over 22 years of experience working for multinational consumer goods companies, she brings valuable expertise in leadership, finance, marketing and project management.Janine chose to become a governor because she believes every child deserves a high-quality education. She wanted to play an active role in supporting the school's success and helping to improve outcomes for all pupils.For Janine, what makes St Edmund's special is its strong ethos of community. She values the close links between school, families, the church and the wider community, and the way the school ensures every child is treated equally and given the best chance to succeed.Her vision is for St Edmund's to have the right strategies in place to secure excellent outcomes for current pupils as well as future generations, while continuing to be seen as a school that families are proud to be part of. -
Godfrey NunesFoundation Governor
Godfrey Nunes
Godfrey joined the Governing Body at St Edmund's in September 2022. With a long career at BT in senior roles across Finance, Public Policy and Group Strategy, he brings valuable experience in leadership, business operations and strategic planning.Becoming a governor was something Godfrey had always hoped to do, and when the opportunity arose at St Edmund's, it felt like the perfect fit. Godrey is passionate about ensuring the school continues to provide the very best all-round education for children.For Godfrey, what makes St Edmund's special is its strong ethos, lived out every day by both staff and pupils. He particularly values the school's Catholic identity, the commitment of the Parish Priest, and the way the school balances excellent academic achievement with a nurturing and faith-filled environment.His vision is for St Edmund's to continue living out its mission; “Together we learn and grow through worship and celebration”, while maintaining the highest standards of education and care for every child. -
Cristina FernandezParent Governor
Cristina Fernandez
Cristina became a Parent Governor in February 2023 and sits on the Curriculum and Achievement Committee. With a degree in Primary Education and her experience as a mum, she brings both professional knowledge and a parent's perspective to her role.
She believes St Edmund's is special because it is a truly inclusive school, where children feel safe, supported and encouraged to grow. She values the way the staff are so dedicated, not only to academic achievement but also to nurturing each child's personal development. For Cristina, St Edmund's is a place where values are lived every day and every child is seen and celebrated as an individual.
Cristina is passionate about ensuring all children, including those with SEND, have the right support to succeed. She also sees digital learning as an exciting opportunity to prepare pupils for the future, helping them gain the skills they need to thrive in today's world.
