All maintained schools in England were given additional government funding to improve the quality of the PE and sport activities they offer to pupils in their schools. Funding has now unfortunately ceased. However, at St Edmund's, we are delighted to report that some of this funding over the past years has been used to ensure school progress towards the Schools Games Mark.

We are proud to let our pupils and parents know that we have now been awarded the School Games PLATINUM award!

The School Games Mark rewards schools for their commitment to and development of competition, school sport and physical education.   Schools are assessed at BRONZE, SILVER or GOLD levels and in order to achieve any level of the School Games Mark, schools must meet rigorous criteria set out within each standard.

If, after 5 years of continuous GOLD standard, schools can prove sustained high quality provision, they can apply for the PLATINUM standard. This shows continuous sustained excellence at the highest level possible. We have proven this! Congratulations to all the children and staff for their hard work.

Please read our Sports Premium Report to see how funding we received was spent.

PE is a very important part of school life at St Edmund's School.  This year we have had some incredible successes!

Richmond Borough Sports

St Edmund’s achieved second place in the medium sized school category bringing home a host of silver medals and many personal bests!  We are extremely proud of the team.  As well as competing, the team got to see and hold Mo Farah’s Olympic gold medals from Rio and London.  Well done to everyone who took part in this event.

Girls Football

For the past two years our girls team have been incredible - who knows what this year will bring?

Their skills and talents got them through to local competition final and their win resulted in them being asked to represent Brentford against teams from ALL over the country. Not once, but two years in a row!  The quality of teams that represented the different premier league teams was phenomenal. All the finalists from around the country were invited to play at Brentford Stadium the first year and Wolverhampton the next.

Our girls were officially the second-best team in the country and certainly the best team in London in 2024 and were the best team in London 2025!  We are so PROUD of each and every one of them – they really are an amazing team.
